Materials for the Arts

Materials for the Arts is a program of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of New York. Its Long Island City warehouse collects used items from local businesses and individuals that might otherwise end up in landfills. It redistributes these materials to arts organizations, public schools and social service agencies with arts activities. A vital resource for the city's art community, over 4,000 organizations count on Materials for the Arts for basic materials to run their programs.

Friends of Materials for the Arts is the 501 (c) (3) sister entity of Materials for the Arts. It raises philanthropic funds for programs that enhance and enrich the Materials for the Arts operation.
