Organizacion Hondureña de Concientizacion y Adopcion Animal

Organizacion Hondureña de Concientizacion y Adopcion Animal (OHCA) aims to make aware the suffering of the animals in the streets of Honduras in an international scale, yet work to educate and repair the damage caused by negligent humans and governmental organizations.We desire to unleash the full potential of the bond between humans and animals for the mutual benefit of both. In our country there are no laws that protect animals either domesticated or wild, making animal abuse very common.

OHCA was founded in 2012, because of the lack of entities that protect animals, and currently we are located in the cities of Tegucigalpa, La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, Siguatepeque and Comayagua. Most of our volunteers are local college and highschool students, who work to promote animal welfare throughout all our activities. Finding the people and resources to continue funding our mission is very difficult, for in Honduras, a country with prevalent poverty, there is no culture of animal protection and few financial resources.
