ASCONA , Asociación Costarricense para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (Costa Rican Association for the Conservation of Nature), seeks to defend the Osa Peninsula's natural resources and protected areas by means of environmental education and support sustainable livelihoods to assure the well-being and sustainable development of local communities. We are also dedicated to the support of local families conducting rural tourism bringing conservation values, community support, and sustainable responsible travel to the Osa. We currently support eight local families hosting different conservation projects, for example: integrated organic farms, butterfly farms, reforestation projects, etc., that tourists can experience as an alternative to main-stream travel.
