Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) is one of the two new proposed
DC Main Street programs that will launch in late 2016. Once the designation is
issued, EMMS will seek to stabilize and rejuvenate the business community of
the Eastern Market neighborhood of DC’s Capitol Hill. Specifically, EMMS will
concentrate on 7th Street SE from North Carolina Avenue on the north
to South Carolina Avenue on the south, Pennsylvania Avenue SE from Seward
Square to the Eastern Market Metro Plaza, and C Street SE from 6th
Street to 8th Street, SE, including the soon-to-open segment of C
Street through the new Hine School development project.
Eastern Market
Main Street, as an officially designated DC Main Streets District, will engage
in small business retention and recruitment activities, provide small business
technical assistance, work on promotional and marketing activities, and engage
on public space design and management issues, among many other activities.
