Volunteer Webmaster, WordPress Experience (Remote) — Keep the Front Door Open for Military Families

Our website is the front door for every military family, volunteer boarder, donor, and supporter who finds us. When a service member gets deployment orders and does not know what to do about their pet, our site is often how they find help. We are looking for a WordPress-experienced volunteer to keep it healthy, current, and always improving.

What you will do:

• Maintain and update pages, forms, and plugins on our WordPress site
• Keep the site secure and current with updates, backups, and routine upkeep
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with our IT support vendor when needed
• Improve site structure, speed, and usability over time
• Build and update landing pages that support campaigns and volunteer recruitment

Who thrives in this role: someone with real WordPress experience (themes, plugins, and forms; Gravity Forms and WP Engine familiarity are a plus) who is careful with live sites and likes leaving things better than they found them. This is a high-trust, high-impact role with real ownership: the site you maintain is how a deploying service member finds help for their pet, and how supporters find us.

Dogs on Deployment is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2011 by two military pilots. Through our Hero Pet Boarding Network and financial assistance programs, we make sure no service member ever has to choose between their duty and their pet. You do not need a military background to serve. Our volunteers work in supportive teams with a regular meeting rhythm, real ownership, and a mission you can feel.
