    Job Overview:

    The Career Readiness Coordinator is a high-impact volunteer role focused on delivering crucial training and career support to transitioning military members and their spouses. You will provide one-on-one coaching, facilitate engaging group sessions, and share invaluable resources, directly equipping our clients for success in the civilian workforce.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Career Coaching & Client Support (2–3 hours/week): Provide personalized and group coaching sessions to guide job seekers through career exploration, effective job search strategies, and civilian transition planning. You'll be instrumental in helping clients translate their invaluable military skills into sought-after civilian job qualifications.
    • Training & Facilitation (1–1.5 hours/week): Lead dynamic virtual workshops and sessions covering critical areas such as resume development (including the STAR method), interview preparation and mock interviews, professional communication (email etiquette, workplace norms), and essential civilian job market tools like LinkedIn, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
    • Resource Curation & Client Tools (30 min–1 hour/week): Curate and share valuable resources, including resume templates, comprehensive job search guides, and impactful digital learning tools. You'll empower clients to navigate platforms such as LinkedIn, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office, enabling them to achieve optimal career readiness.
    • Program Execution & Collaboration (1–2.5 hours/week): Track coaching outcomes and meticulously document client progress, ensuring a clear path to success. You will collaborate closely with VPMMA's Mentorship and Outreach teams to ensure our clients receive seamless and aligned support throughout their journey. Regular participation in weekly or bi-weekly check-ins with the Career Services team is essential for our collective impact.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Career Development Knowledge: You possess a strong understanding of effective job search strategies, resume writing (especially the STAR method), and interview preparation techniques.
    • Coaching & Communication: You excel in interpersonal and coaching skills, capable of providing empathetic guidance to individuals and leading engaging small group discussions.
    • Training & Facilitation: You have experience delivering impactful virtual workshops and a keen understanding of adult learning principles.
    • Technical Skills: You are proficient in essential digital tools, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, Zoom, and Google Meet.
    • Organization: You demonstrate strong organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple clients and effectively tracking their progress.
    • Mission Alignment: Your passion for serving the military community and unwavering commitment to VPMMA's mission are paramount.

    Position Details:

    • Type: Volunteer
    • Location: Remote
    • Directorate: Career Services (Program Committee)
    • Term: We encourage a commitment of six months to one year to ensure consistency and effectiveness in our programs and for our clients.
    • Time Commitment: We ask volunteers to dedicate 5 to 8 hours per week, with a minimum of 15 hours per month. We understand that some weeks may be less active due to holidays or vacations. Open and effective communication about your availability helps us maintain flexibility and ensures smooth operations.
