This is a 6-month assignment in Kolda, Senegal.
The assignment is part of the ‘Equality in Action’ Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP), which is being rolled out across around ten countries in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organisations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalised people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls and vulnerable and marginalised people at the heart of all its work.
Here is what your day-to-day work will look like:
Working closely with members of the Oxfam team in Senegal and the NGO7A organisation, your role will involve:
- Advising and supporting the partner in the design and implementation of a gender-responsive SEAR methodology for current and draft projects.
- Support the development of a monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability manual for the organisation and contribute to the completion of evaluations of ongoing projects.
- Define relevant, gender-sensitive qualitative and quantitative monitoring indicators.
- Contribute to defining data collection methodologies and indicator monitoring plans at all stages of the project cycle.
- Train the partner’s staff in the use of indicators and data collection tools and facilitate spaces for reflection, analysis, planning and project evaluation.
For this role, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or hold permanent residency in Canada;
- Hold a university degree in project management, programme evaluation, or any other relevant field;
- Have experience in monitoring and evaluation, project management or any other related field;
- Have very good knowledge of results-based management (RBM) and participatory and/or gender-sensitive methodologies in project planning, monitoring and evaluation;
- Be fluent in spoken and written French; knowledge of the local language is an asset;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Skype, Teams and Zoom;
- Experience in international development (an asset)
