Board of Directors: Compliance Officer
Detalhes
Descrição
About the Role The FACTS Initiative is seeking a meticulous, strategically minded professional to join our Board of Directors as the Compliance Officer.
Please note: While we operate with a working board due to our organization’s size, this is strictly an advisory and governance role, not an operational staff position. You will not be expected to execute daily operational tasks. Instead, you will offer high-level guidance, review policies, and provide strategic recommendations to ensure professional oversight and informed decision-making. Additionally, this board position operates strictly in an advisory capacity and does not establish an attorney-client relationship.
As the Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for advising on and overseeing risk management practices to protect The FACTS Initiative from legal and ethical risks. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our practices align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical principles.
What You Will Do (Governance & Oversight)
- Risk Mitigation & Oversight: Provide high-level guidance on implementing risk management strategies to minimize agency liability. Recommend best practices for compliance and support ethics improvement efforts (such as assessments and audits).
- Policy Review & Development: Offer oversight on agency practices, programs, and policies to assess for legal and ethical compliance. Advise the board on necessary policy adjustments to reduce risk exposure.
- Strategic Advisement: Communicate all significant compliance findings and observations to the Board of Directors to support informed, ethical decision-making.
- Board Education: Track emerging trends in compliance, risk management, and ethics. Educate the board and staff on effective compliance practices to promote a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness.
Who We Are Looking For
- Professionals holding a Master’s degree or higher in law, compliance, or a closely related field.
- Strategic thinkers with relevant, proven experience in risk management, compliance, or a similar area.
- Individuals with exceptionally strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team players with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 2 hours per week.
- Attendance and active participation in quarterly board meetings.
- Participation in committee meetings as needed for compliance-related initiatives.
- Occasional additional time may be required during audits, assessments, or significant policy reviews.
Why Join Us? The Compliance Officer plays a vital role in upholding the integrity of The FACTS Initiative’s operations. By advising on risk management and safeguarding our ethical standards, you will directly protect the organization’s reputation and stability, ensuring we can continue providing critical, trauma-informed care to our community for years to come.
