Nonprofit board secretary

Zero Tolerance for Domestic Abuse (0T4DA) is seeking a reliable, organized, and compassionate individual to serve as our Volunteer Board Secretary. This is mostly a remote position, with the occassional in-person event.

0T4DA is a Colorado nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse through education, advocacy, survivor programs, and community awareness. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Secretary who believes in our mission and wants to play an active role in helping our organization move forward.

About the Role

The Board Secretary is an important member of our working Board of Directors and helps keep the board organized, informed, and accountable.

Responsibilities include:

• Attend scheduled board meetings and take accurate meeting minutes
• Prepare and distribute meeting agendas in coordination with the Executive Director/Board leadership
• Distribute meeting minutes and other board materials in a timely manner
• Maintain organized records of board meetings, motions, votes, and key decisions
• Track board action items and help provide reminders about upcoming deadlines and responsibilities
• Maintain current board member and organizational records as needed
• Participate as an engaged member of our working board
• Assist with occasional nonprofit projects, events, or initiatives based on interest and availability

• Dependable and follows through on commitments
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Comfortable taking clear and concise meeting notes
• Able to communicate professionally and respectfully
• Comfortable using email, Google Docs, Zoom and basic electronic document-sharing tools
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Passionate about supporting survivors and strengthening our community

Previous nonprofit or board experience is not required. Domestic violence survivors wanting to give back, are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in someone who is willing to learn and who understands that serving on a working board means actively contributing to the organization.

Time Commitment

Approximately 2–4 hours per month, including board meetings and follow-up responsibilities. Additional opportunities to participate in events, committees, fundraising, advocacy, and survivor programs are available.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Serving as Board Secretary is an opportunity to use your organizational skills in a meaningful way while helping a growing nonprofit make a difference in the lives of domestic abuse survivors.
