Food Rescue US is dedicated to reducing hunger and food waste (keeping food out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gasses). They engage volunteers and food donors through a proprietary web-based app to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving the food insecure. Food Rescue US is a national organization with 40+ sites across 20+ states and DC. This local one is right here in Akron!

Food rescuers pick-up excess food from local food donors, including grocery stores, restaurants, corporate dining facilities, and other food providers, and deliver it to local social service agencies providing for the food insecure. Rescuers use their own vehicles and select rescues scheduled at times that are convenient for them to pick-up and drop-off the excess food.
