Communications & Membership Marketing Intern
Detalhes
Descrição
Undergraduate Internship — Fall 2026 | Unpaid | Remote (U.S.)
Note: This is listed under "Volunteer Opportunity" per Idealist's category structure, but it is a structured internship — academic credit is available and FROG will complete any learning agreement, supervisor evaluation, or credit-hour paperwork required by the intern's institution.
Interns join FROG at a compelling moment: Guyana is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, offering a front-row seat to a South American nation's rapid transformation — and to the diaspora community helping shape it.
Friends of Guyana (FROG) is a U.S.-based nonprofit connecting Guyana's people at home with its wider community abroad — from the Caribbean and CARICOM to the global diaspora. An affiliate group of the National Peace Corps Association, FROG grew out of Peace Corps service in Guyana. Our work centers on four pillars: our quarterly newsletter, one high-impact community project each year, a fiscal sponsorship program for Guyanese creators and organizers, and a partnership marking 60 years of Peace Corps service in Guyana. Learn more at friendsofguyana.org.
Term: Fall 2026, September–December (dates flexible around academic calendar)
Hours: 8–10 hours/week, flexible schedule with one required weekly check-in
What You'll Do
Plan and maintain a social media content calendar across FROG's platforms, drafting posts that reflect the organization's voice and mission. Support production of our quarterly newsletter — drafting content, formatting in MailerLite, and coordinating distribution. Help grow and retain FROG's membership base through outreach campaigns, welcome communications, and engagement touchpoints. Support the annual Give-or-Get fundraising campaign with promotional content and donor/member communications. Engage with the Guyanese diaspora community online, helping FROG build authentic, culturally fluent connections across its audience.
What We're Looking For
Strong written communication skills and comfort writing in a distinct organizational voice. Familiarity with social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and an interest in nonprofit or mission-driven communications. Self-directed and comfortable working remotely with light supervision. An interest in diaspora identity, international development, or Caribbean/Latin American communities is a strong plus, though not required. Prior experience with tools like Canva, Mailchimp, or MailerLite is helpful but not necessary — training provided.
What You'll Gain
Direct mentorship from FROG's President and Board Chair, a 20+ year creative producer, writer, and director in entertainment and nonprofit work. Hands-on experience with nonprofit marketing tools (Zeffy, MailerLite) and a real content portfolio. Exposure to the day-to-day operations of running a diaspora-focused international nonprofit. A letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the internship.
Preferred Majors: Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, International Relations, or related fields
