By pairing volunteer coaches with KEEN's athletes -- children and young adults with disabilities -- KEEN Chicago provides one-to-one coaching and interaction that promotes individual fulfillment. KEEN Chicago serves individuals with such diverse disabilities as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and various developmental and intellectual disabilities. KEEN Chicago's mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of our athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. WE CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!
Join us for a fun aquatics session! No experience as a swim instructor is needed. This is not a swim class, but a chance for our athletes to enjoy some time in the water, learn about water safety and challenge themselves to learn or try something new! Volunteers are needed on-site to assist with leading the athletes to the pool area, equipping life vests or floaties, if needed, and providing assistance and support to our Athletes who may need extra help in order to participate in the activities. Volunteers will be paired 1:1 with Athletes when necessary.
For this date, we'll have two one-hour sessions for our Athletes to enjoy the water. Volunteers may sign up for one of the hours or stay for both.
