Description
The purpose of this role is to provide resources to clients who need to find housing. There has been a recent change in rental assistance rules, and there is less assistance available to people who need it. In order to adapt to these changes, CLS is looking for a volunteer who can help clients find affordable housing, access community resources related to relocation, and/or provide information about and assistance with applying for housing. This volunteer will fill a vital gap for clients during a time of transition in their lives.
The Perfect Volunteer…
The perfect volunteer for this role is empathetic, relationship-oriented, and interested in learning about housing options in Colorado. No legal experience is necessary. Some social work education and/or experience may be helpful but is not required. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience working in a legal setting while also increasing meaningful access to justice in Colorado.
Location
Volunteers may be able to work remotely depending on client needs, but preference is for volunteer to be based in the Denver metro area for occasional in-person client meetings with clients who may have difficulty accessing remote support.
Time Commitment
Time will vary depending on the needs of the client. Volunteers will commit to working with one client at a time and can expect to spend a rough average of 2.5 hours per week on housing navigation services for approximately 8 weeks per client.
