NAAAP New York is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all-volunteer, AAPI professional organization that promotes the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals in all fields through professional development, community service, and social events. We are the founding chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), with a history dating back to 1982.
About PRIDE in NAAAP :
The PRIDE Program advances visibility and representation for LGBTQ+ AAPI individuals, offering safe spaces, professional programming, and allyship education. NAAAP NY is seeking a passionate and strategic volunteer to lead our Pride Program, supporting LGBTQ+ Asian American professionals through advocacy, community-building, and leadership development. You will be reporting to the VP of Programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management (40%):
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PRIDE programming framework aligned with NAAAP NY's mission and objectives
- Oversee planning and execution of WIN NAAAP NY workshops and events
Team Collaboration and Management (20%):
- Work closely with other teams, particularly Programming and Marketing & Communications, for smooth execution of PRIDE NAAAP NY in-person/virtual workshops and events
- Manage and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment
Partnership Development and Community Engagement (20%):
- Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with the community and potential partners to enhance PRIDE NAAAP NY’s opportunities for growth
- Engage with the PRIDE NAAAP NY community to understand their needs, preferences, and feedback
Resource Management and Quality Assurance (10%):
- Manage PRIDE NAAAP NY’s budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource utilization
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality workshops and events by monitoring outcomes, collecting feedback, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
Leadership Meetings and Volunteer Engagement (10%):
- Participate in bi-weekly leadership meetings to discuss and strategize chapter activities
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to actively support PRIDE NAAAP NY and the organization
Qualifications:
- Passionate about LGBTQ+ advocacy and AAPI community empowerment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in event planning, DEI work, or community organizing.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and safe environment.
- Experience in event planning and project management.
- Adept at working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Previous experience in a leadership or management role is a plus.
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 12 months, actively participating in the planning and execution of at least 1-2 major PRIDE NAAAP NY organized in-person event and at least 1 virtual workshop or cross-chapter collaboration per year.
