    College Essay Writing Support

    826 Boston is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students in grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life. We invite you to join our community of more than 750 writing coaches, tutors, mentors, storytellers, editors, illustrators, and more!

    This fall we are thrilled to be bringing our College Essay Boot Camp workshop to students around Boston. Each tutoring shift includes:

    • 15-minute volunteer pre-brief to discuss the day’s topic
    • 15-20 minute mini-lesson led by a member of the 826 Boston team
    • 70-75 minute work block where volunteers will work with one or two students
    • 15-minute debrief to discuss successes, challenges, and learnings from the day

    We encourage tutors of all backgrounds to apply, and we especially seek volunteers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and/or multi-lingual so that our volunteers are more representative of the students we serve.
