Join Us as a Volunteer Child Advocate!

We're looking for compassionate individuals to serve as Volunteer Child Advocates for unaccompanied immigrant children in immigration detention. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in a child's life during a critical time.

About the Role

As a Volunteer Child Advocate, you'll meet with a child for one hour each week, getting to know them through casual, play-based interactions. You'll work alongside a Young Center staff member who will provide guidance and support throughout your service, ensuring the child's wishes, safety, and unique identity are thoughtfully considered by decision makers and stakeholders.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applicants who meet the following criteria:

• At least 21 years old
• Speak a language other than English (preference for Spanish, Q'eqchi'/Kekchi, Kaqchikel, Korean, French, Romanian, Portuguese, Fulani, Lingala, Creole, and Arabic)
• Have access to a car to attend meetings with the child
• Willing to complete required background checks
• Available to attend an Information Session
• Able to complete a full 2-day in-person training

We will be hosting an in-person Volunteer Child Advocate training on Saturday, March 14 & Sunday, March 15 in Phoenix, AZ.
