Recruitment Coordinator

About the Role:

The Happy Pet Project is seeking a friendly, organized, and people-focused Recruitment Coordinator to help grow and strengthen our volunteer community. This role is ideal for someone looking for a long-term opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community while also gaining valuable experience in volunteer management and recruitment.

As a Recruitment Coordinator, you’ll be the welcoming face for new volunteers — helping them find their place within our rescue and ensuring they have the support and confidence to thrive.

What You’ll Do:

Connect with new and prospective volunteers via phone, or virtual meetings.

Conduct friendly interviews to understand each person’s skills, interests, and goals.

Match volunteers with roles where they’ll thrive and make the biggest impact.

Take time to learn the operations and structure of The Happy Pet Project to confidently place volunteers in the right positions.

Collaborate with leadership and program coordinators to identify current and future recruitment needs.

Maintain communication with active volunteers to encourage engagement and retention.

Help represent The Happy Pet Project at community events and virtual outreach opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in volunteer recruitment, volunteer management, or interviewing (formal or informal).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Warm, approachable demeanor and a natural ability to connect with people.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Willingness to learn the inner workings of the rescue to best match volunteers with roles.

Passion for animal welfare and supporting a mission-driven team.

Time Commitment:

Flexible, averaging 1–10 hours per week depending on the season and recruitment needs. Some initial training time will be needed to learn our operations and volunteer structure.
