Project Street Vet: Board Member Opportunity

Project Street Vet is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that envisions a world where veterinary care is accessible to every pet family. Our mission is to empower veterinary teams to deliver professional, non-judgmental medical care & support to pet families experiencing homelessness and housing vulnerability. Leading with our motto of “No Judgment. Just Help.” we seek out and assist pet families who need it most. More information on Project Street Vet can be found here: projectstreetvet.org.

Founded by Dr. Kwane Stewart, CNN’s 2023 Hero of the Year, Project Street Vet is growing, and we’re looking for new board members to help us expand our impact.

    We’re especially seeking individuals with:

✔️ Veterinary medical experience, particularly serving vulnerable populations and/or in a teaching or educational setting

✔️ Familiarity with services for the unhoused and those experiencing homelessness

✔️ A passion for the mission of Project Street Vet

Project Street Vet is especially interested in applications that reflect and represent the diversity of the communities we work in and the clients we serve. We welcome applications from individuals who have lived experience being unhoused with a pet. Your voice and experience are essential to our work.

    Board Member Expectations:

    • Attend 4 virtual board meetings per year (usually Wednesdays, 5–7 PM PT)
    • Actively participate in at least one board committee, including attending meetings approximately once per month and contributing to written work product
    • Monthly time commitment of approximately 5 hours for meetings and individual work. Attend 1 full-day board retreat per year
    • Contribute to the organization in whatever way is most feasible and impactful for the individual board member; we recognize that monetary donations are just one of many ways to help our organization grow.
    • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the organization
    • Work in good faith with staff and other board members as partners towards achievement of our goals
