Join the eco art movement! Apply to be treasurer for Women Eco Artists Dialog.
Women Eco Artists Dialog (WEAD) is a small, but mighty nonprofit, founded in 1996, and run by one staff member and a working board. We empower women and gender-diverse people internationally to apply their unique perspectives in the field of ecological art and social-justice art through networking, education, and opportunities. Our programs include:
- Online directory of 600+ eco artists and social justice artists
- Annual online and in-person member exhibitions, with a printed catalog and speaker series, featuring guest jurors like Beverly Naidus, Maru García, Jane Kim, Kaylin Lemajeur, Leah Dalton, and Elisabeth Pellathy
- Annual online magazine that serves as inspiration to artists and scientists and as an archive of the ecoart field for researchers, with Executive Editor Susan Leibovitz Steinman
- Monthly e-newsletter with featured artists, member events, and opportunities, edited by Mary B. White
- Art+ online speaker series of emerging and established eco and social justice artists, art critics, educators, and scientists, led by Deborah Durant
- Two residencies, one in partnership with Berkeley Youth Alternatives and one in partnership with Planting Oceania
- In-person workshops on topics like working with recycled glass, visible mending, and eco-somatic movement
- Film screenings, including Maintenance Artist and Playing with Fire: An Ecosexual Emergency
- Partnership events with art and ecology organizations like Bioneers, San Francisco Estuary Partnership, 500 Capp Street, and The 109 Gallery
We need a Board Treasurer to help us keep track of all the ins and outs of finances and taxes!
We have a bookkeeper and an accounting firm, so you don't need to be a CPA. Familiarity with QuickBooks and checkbooks, as well as state and federal filing requirements, strongly preferred. Ideally, you can commit to a 3-year board term.
Duties include:
- Preparing reports for and attending a 2-hour board meeting every two months, including an annual preparation of the organization's yearly budget
- Short weekly check-ins with the bookkeeper and board chair
- Occasional visits to the credit union
- Running bi-monthly payroll for one staff member via Gusto
- Collaborating with accounting firm to ensure timely fillings
- Paying invoices
- Generating financials for grant applications and reports and other committees, as requested
- Works closely with board chair, whose name is on accounts
Time investment: approximately 2-4 hours weekly
