ESL Teacher - Beginner level class

** URGENT NEED **

Our normal teacher for Saturdays had a last minute update in his work schedule, now he is unavailable to teach his class. We are seeking a replacement for saturdays this Fall . Our program is usually 3 sessions a year. This Fall session runs from september to december, once a week.

More class info:

• Saturdays - 11:00 am - 1 pm (not super strict timing, but at least 1.5 hr and perhaps students have questions
• Located in plainfield
• Focusing on beginner course, where students are not advanced (but at times there can be)
• Parking is limited, you can park on site if there is an opening. if not, there is street parking or a train station a block over for free parking
• It will be in a conference room - can fit up to about 10 ( pushing it can be up to 16ish)
• Our teachers all had their own agendas and curriculum but we do have past worksheets and some books we used in the past
• We have volunteers interested in assisting (but not experienced enough to be a teacher), so you can have a helper during this time.
• If there is extra material needed, we can discuss and make sure to plan.

Looking for:

• An experienced english teacher
• Since we need someone right away, then if they have a general curriculum would be helpful
• Familiar with working with the vulnerable population and conducting a classroom
  • sometimes students may be able to speak but need help writing, etc
  • Many may never have attended school or completed high school.
  • These are mostly working adults, so you need to use your best judgment on giving assignments
• The majority is of hispanic origin, but we get students from all backgrounds. We can have a helper thats bilingual, if you are not comfortable with the spanish language if needed.
• Being able to keep track of attendance.
• If away for certain days, needs to have a clear written plan set so a substitute volunteer can take over in emergencies.
• We can get a mix of levels, as saturdays is generally more available for everyone. If we start to get enough advance students, we can plan for an additional class that same day.
