Remote Research Assistant Internship | International Relations & Human Rights

Posterity International is seeking eight Research Assistant Interns to conduct substantive research on international humanitarian, human rights, development, conflict, displacement, and policy issues.

This remote internship is designed for students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals interested in international relations, international development, human rights, humanitarian affairs, public policy, global affairs, law, journalism, or conflict studies who want to apply their research skills beyond the classroom.

Each intern will receive either a regional research portfolio or Global Developments portfolio:

• Africa — 1 opening
• Asia — 1 opening
• Middle East & North Africa (MENA) — 1 opening
• South America — 1 opening
• Europe — 1 opening
• North America — 1 opening
• Global Developments — 2 openings

Regional Research Assistants will monitor and analyze developments affecting their assigned region. Global Developments Research Assistants will examine cross-regional issues, emerging crises, international institutions, global policy developments, and issues of broader international significance.

This is a substantive research internship rather than a primarily administrative position. Intern research may inform Posterity International's publications, advocacy, program development, public education, digital communications, reports, briefs, and organizational decision-making.

What You'll Do

• Monitor humanitarian, human rights, development, conflict, displacement, and policy developments
• Conduct rigorous background and issue-specific research using credible primary and secondary sources
• Identify emerging or underreported developments warranting further attention
• Evaluate sources for credibility, accuracy, context, and evidentiary strength
• Prepare research summaries, briefing materials, and analytical documents
• Support research for programs, advocacy campaigns, publications, and public-facing content
• Translate complex international issues into clear and accessible analysis
• Maintain organized citations, sourcing, and research documentation

Who We're Looking For

Applicants should be current students, recent graduates, emerging professionals, or individuals with demonstrated academic experience in international relations, political science, public policy, international development, human rights, law, journalism, peace and conflict studies, or a related field.

Strong candidates are intellectually curious, careful with evidence, strong writers, and genuinely engaged with global affairs. You should be able to work independently, communicate proactively, meet deadlines, and approach research involving conflict and affected communities with sensitivity.

Regional expertise and relevant language skills are welcomed but are not required unless specified for an assignment.
