University Heights Neighborhood Focus Great Indy Cleanup

Come together with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and local community members in the University Heights Neighborhood to tackle litter at this large cleanup event. We will focus on cleaning litter near and around the University of Indianapolis campus and will span the entire neighborhood south of Hanna Ave. Cleaning litter beautifies our city while protecting our local ecosystems, including our soil, waterways, plants, and wildlife, from pollution. Litter prevention is one of the easiest things we can do to keep our city clean, but it takes all of us doing our part. In addition, all volunteers will receive a Great Indy Cleanup t-shirt as a thank you for their hard work! This cleanup is in partnership with the University of Indianapolis.

Safety: We highly recommend wearing sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and close-toed shoes. If you are interested in picking up litter along fence lines, please wear long sleeves and pants to minimize potential poison ivy exposure. We always recommend bringing a reusable water bottle but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide all supplies, such as litter grabbers, gloves, and trash bags. While this event is family friendly, all young children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times due to the proximity of busy roads.

Parking, Facilities + Special Instructions: Check-in and the meeting location will be outside Esch Hall. Free parking will be available across the entire University of Indianapolis campus on April 18. The closest parking lot is located just east of Esch Hall (1330 Otterbein Cir, Indianapolis, IN 46227). Please refer to the campus map for additional details. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow time for parking and finding your way. The event will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.
