Veterans Helping Veterans - Hospice Care

Ascend Hospice is seeking military personnel, veterans and interested civilians to provide companionship and support to military veterans on our hospice service through our Veteran to Veteran Program. American Veterans may have unique needs at the end of life; needs that are influenced by how they entered their military experience, combat experience, when their experience took place, their branch and rank, POW status, and if they have symptoms of or a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder diagnosis. We are looking for any individuals who have a particular interest in helping this population.

Opportunities Include:

• Participate in Veterans Pinning Ceremonies
• Providing Companionship and Support to Veteran Patients
• Providing Support to Caregivers
• Become Pen Pals with a Veteran Patient
• **Volunteers are required to follow CDC guidelines, Ascend Hospice policy and practices, and facility requirements for infection control. At this time, we require volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to protect our vulnerable population of patients.
