    Descrição

Support digital inclusion and build practical tech skills for women and girls in rural Uganda — while gaining real experience in international development.

Join Women in Leadership (WIL Uganda) and contribute to programmes addressing gender-based violence through education, prevention, and community engagement.

    About the Organisation

Women in Leadership (WIL Uganda) is a grassroots, women-led organisation based in Busembatia, Eastern Uganda.

Our mission: to dismantle inequality and empower women and girls to exercise their rights, build independence, and lead within their communities.

    About the Role

This role focuses on building confidence, access, and practical skills in technology — from basic digital literacy to creative and professional tools.

You will design and deliver engaging, accessible sessions tailored to different learning levels.

    What You’ll Do

    • Deliver basic digital skills sessions (e.g. computer literacy, online safety, research skills)
    • Support girls to build confidence using technology
    • Facilitate workshops in schools and community settings
    • Introduce creative or practical tools (e.g. presentations, CV building, content creation)
    • Support programme development and new ideas for digital inclusion
    • Work alongside local staff and community groups

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Practical experience in digital inclusion and development work
    • Experience designing and delivering training sessions
    • Leadership and communication skills
    • Experience adapting teaching for low-resource settings
    • A professional reference and certificate upon completion
    • Opportunity to gain academic credit (we work with your university)
    • Experience running your own workshops and projects

    Requirements

    • Enrolled in or completed a university degree
    • Interest in technology, education, or international development
    • Basic digital skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google tools, or similar)
    • Confidence facilitating or teaching others
    • Strong communication and initiative
    • Willingness to adapt to rural community life
    • Laptop required for placement work

    Programme Duration & Fundraising Model

    (Fundraising-based internship — not a fee)

    • 1 month: £1,650
    • 2–3 months: £2,450
    • 6 months: £3,750

    Girls Who Lead Global Bursary

We believe opportunity should not depend on income.

10% of every volunteer’s fundraising contributes to the Girls Who Lead Global Bursary, which fully funds a young woman (18–30, UK-based) from a low-income or underrepresented background to join the programme.

    Every cohort funds the next.
