Position Summary:
Volunteer Youth Specialists help create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for youth at the Nashua PAL Youth Safe Haven. Volunteers support daily activities, build healthy connections with young people, and help staff run programs that promote growth, learning, and fun.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Engagement & Support
- Build positive, supportive relationships with youth ages 7–18
- Model appropriate boundaries, behavior, and communication
- Supervise youth during activities, free time, and transitions
- Encourage teamwork, good choices, and participation
Program Assistance
- Help facilitate after-school activities, recreation, crafts, enrichment, and special events
- Assist staff with setup, cleanup, and general program needs
Safety & Environment
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and respectful space
- Follow Nashua PAL youth protection policies and guidelines
- Alert staff to any concerns regarding behavior, safety, or youth needs
Qualifications
- Enjoys working with children and teens
- Patient, reliable, and able to enforce healthy boundaries
- Comfortable engaging youth in conversation and activities
- Must complete volunteer application and background check
Schedule
- Weekday afternoon and early evening hours available
- Volunteers can commit to one or more days per week
- Occasional special events may take place on weekends
