    Descrição

    Trees be our Valentine!

Join the Stream Team this Valentine's Day, for a volunteer planting event helping to restore habitat along a local salmon stream. Plant trees with your sweeties, or show up with your love for our planet, to help us make a difference for Woods Creek- a tributary to the Skykomish River. Stewardship is carried out through acts of love, and, after all, what's more romantic than restoring spawning habitat?

Trees Be Our Valentine - Volunteer Planting Event

    On Valentine's Day - Saturday February 14th, 2026

    9AM-Noon

Tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided by the Adopt A Stream Foundation.

This is a rain or shine event so please come prepared in tree planting attire and closed-toed, water-proof/resistant shoes to keep you dry and warm.

This is a volunteer event so it is of course FREE but the ticket link below will enable you to RSVP. You can also RSVP by emailing aasf@streamkeeper.org or calling 425-316-8592. Please reach out if you have any questions or curiosities, or if you would be interested in arranging a private restoration event.

    More about this project:

In the summer of 2023 AASF worked with our partners to remove an abandoned creosote-log railroad trestle that has been polluting Woods Creek and acting as a barrier to salmon migration since 1939. We also installed in-stream log structures to create spawning and rearing habitat for native salmon (including the endangered Chinook).

Since the bridge removal the Stream Team (and volunteers like YOU!) have been working to restore the riparian zone of Woods Creek by removing invasive species, planting the riparian zone with native trees and shrubs, and mulching those native plants, to ensure they will grow to provide shade, so that the stream can maintain proper water temperature and be able to sustain a healthy salmon run.
