Volunteer Position Summary
The Music & Movement Volunteer will provide live musical entertainment and facilitate enjoyable music-based activities for residents. Volunteers may sing, play instruments, lead simple dance or movement activities, and encourage resident participation through music and social engagement.
This opportunity is ideal for musicians, music students, performers, dancers, music therapists, church musicians, or individuals who simply enjoy sharing music with older adults.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Perform live music for residents using an instrument of choice
- Lead interactive music and movement activities
- Encourage residents to sing along, dance, clap, or participate
- Create a fun, uplifting, and engaging atmosphere
- Coordinate themed music sessions, seasonal performances, or cultural music experiences
- Support resident emotional wellness and social connection through music
- Adapt activities for varying mobility and ability levels
Preferred Instruments
We welcome musicians who play:
- Piano or Keyboard
- Guitar
- Violin
- Saxophone
- Drums or Percussion
- Flute
- Harp
- Other acoustic instruments
Singers and vocal performers are also encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
- Passion for music and community engagement
- Friendly, compassionate, and patient personality
- Comfortable interacting with older adults
- Dependable and positive attitude
- Experience performing or leading music activities preferred but not required
Schedule
Volunteer days and times are flexible and can be negotiated based on availability.
