Description:
Coticipate is seeking enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to our mission of assisting individuals and families in Baltimore City affected by the digital divide with obtaining needed services, information, and resources. Thousands of Baltimore residents face limitations or barriers in accessing the internet and digital technology. As a result, they are deprived of the assistance they need that would help remedy the hardships they face dealing with issues such as food insecurity, homelessness, joblessness, educational disparities, mental health, and substance abuse. Volunteer interests should align with Coticipate’s mission, as well as our purpose which is to connect residents to needed services, information, and resources that would improve their circumstances, outcomes, and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with residents through social media, telephone outreach, and/or community interaction to identify those who face limitations or barriers in accessing the internet and digital technology.
- Raise awareness about Coticipate's mission and how the organization is actively addressing the digital divide in Baltimore City.
- Conduct short interviews to gather the experiences of those facing limitations or lack of access to internet and digital resources.
- Determine the services, assistance, and/or resources residents need and if applicable, provide appropriate information and contacts.
- Share organizational content, impactful stories, and calls to action.
- Promote Coticipate’s help number to the public.
- Be a positive representation of Coticipate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with outreach, community service, and/or volunteer work.
- Customer service and/or public contact experiences.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and familiarity with Baltimore City neighborhoods and communities.
Other Qualifications:
- Comfortable communicating, conversating, and interacting with residents.
- Considerate of those who are dealing with crisis or trauma.
- Sensitive to the needs of those facing various hardships.
- Ability to navigate stressful environments and situations.
- Awareness of adversities faced by underserved and disadvantaged communities.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Some college or coursework.
Optional:
- Proficiency in a second language.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license.
