Family Literacy Child Classroom Volunteer
Purpose: The Child Classroom Volunteer is responsible for supporting the Child Classroom Instructor with implementing and facilitating classroom activities across various Family Literacy programming sites in Guilford County. In the Early Childhood classrooms, the assistant will focus on early brain development and kindergarten readiness. In the K+ classrooms, the assistant will focus on homework help and reading intervention.
Commitment: 6-24 hours/week; 6-9 months, Flexible Days: You can work Monday or Wednesday or both days)
- Daytime: Monday & Wednesday, 9:00am-1:00pm
- Location: 438 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro
- Evening: Monday & Wednesday, 4:00pm-8:00pm
- Location: 1305 Merritt Dr. , Greensboro

Duties & Responsibilities
- Support family time activities which encourage positive parent-child literacy-based interactions
- Support classroom instruction according to the child classroom instructor
- Actively engage with children and encourage them to participate in classroom activities
- Offer extra help to children who may need accommodations
- Help maintain discipline and organization
- Assist in serving meals at program sites

Expectations
- Complete all assigned training activities
- Participate in regular check-ins with Program Coordinators
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- No phones or other electronic devices during programming
- Minimum of 2 hours notice of missing a scheduled shift
- No more than 2 no-shows will be tolerated
- No more than 30% cancelation of scheduled shifts
- Reference letters will only be provided for those who meet the above expectations
