Nature Educator: School Groups

Summary of Position

Do you enjoy helping kids explore nature and expand their minds? This is a fantastic way to have fun with kids while teaching them about the natural world. We are seeking volunteers with an easy-going personality to co-facilitate pre-developed school programs and stations at Jr. Ranger events.

Duties

Co-Facilitate pre-developed programs on natural history topics during the school year

Assist at Jr. Ranger events year-round

Co-Facilitate pre-developed programs to children’s groups during the summer

Must enjoy working with school-age children

Project a friendly demeanor when addressing visitor questions and concerns

Requirements

Be willing to volunteer at least five times per year

Keen interest in the stewardship of JCPOS Parks demonstrated through communicating with and educating park visitors

Friendly personality that enjoys working with diverse park visitors

Possess good decision-making and communication skills

Purchase a uniform and wear it while on duty

Complete required training before working independently

Volunteers must abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook
