    Descrição

    Purpose:

    The volunteer Financial Well-Being Specialist will play a key role in strengthening the delivery of financial services and bringing prospective clients into our flagship SparkPoint program. The focus of this program is to provide financial empowerment to community members through the Agency’s free financial coaching services that include household budget creation, debt management, and credit score improvement. As the first point of contact representing the Financial Well-Being team, your timely client interaction, initial assessment, and feedback on how to attain an improved financial future will play a critical role in ensuring better outcomes for the people we serve in our community, allowing them to forge a path to self-sufficiency and to live and thrive in their community.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

      • Process internal referrals using designated forms and procedures.
      • Conduct initial outreach to clients via phone and email using provided scripts.
      • Interview potential clients utilizing the phone script to perform initial client assessments to determine suitability for coaching services.
      • Schedule intake appointments with financial well-being coaches for eligible clients. Appointments can include video conference, phone only, or in-person meetings depending on the client’s preference.
      • Coordinate appointment details between the client and financial coach.
      • Monitor and respond to emails and voicemails using designated volunteer email in a timely manner.
      • Utilize Microsoft Teams and Outlook for all communications including sending and receiving messages, making calls, and managing emails.
      • Learn to use Microsoft Suite and communication scripts to efficiently perform tasks required to screen and onboard prospective clients.
      • Participate in monthly meetings with the Financial Well-Being team.
      • Learn other Agency services to connect prospective clients to other programs such as Season of Sharing funds and LIHEAP.

      • Willingness to learn new processes, procedures, and scripts to perform tasks independently and efficiently.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with client-facing work.
      • Ability to follow directions.
      • Provide input for improving established processes, as appropriate.
      • Organized, creative, and detail oriented.
      • Verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to engage with the public in an empathetic, culturally responsible manner.
      • Adapt well to a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and work effectively within a team.

      • Treat all clients politely, friendly, and inclusively.
      • Communicate appropriately with all Agency personnel.
      • Adhere to Agency standards including privacy and confidentiality, health and safety protocols, and our code of ethics.
      • Communicate with individuals in a respectful manner and responsive approach to differing beliefs and practices, sexual orientations, disability statuses, gender identities, ages, cultural preferences, linguistic needs, and other state and federal protected statuses.
      • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. English only acceptable.

    Qualifications:

      • Computer literacy skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (primarily Outlook, Teams, and Word) is desired. Training is available.
      • Willingness and ability to learn computer system applications through training is acceptable.

    Location:

      • Virtual opportunity with some in-person hours at our headquarters located at 7665 Redwood Boulevard in Novato.
      • In person at Novato headquarters, virtual, or hybrid depending on volunteer’s needs and preferences.
