Position Overview
IAABC Foundation is seeking a creative and strategic Marketing Strategist to support its mission of advancing evidence-based education, research, and charitable programs in animal training and behavior. This volunteer role will help increase the Foundation’s visibility, engage volunteers and donors, and promote participation in programs, courses, publications, and events. The Marketing Strategist will lead digital campaigns, develop content, and collaborate with volunteers and leadership to strengthen the organization’s outreach and brand presence globally.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals and programs.
- Advise leadership on audience targeting, campaign planning, and communications priorities.
- Identify opportunities to grow awareness, volunteer engagement, donor support, and program participation.
- Track and analyze engagement metrics, recommending improvements to optimize results.
Digital Marketing & Content Development
- Develop strategies to effectively market on social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Identify and develop strategies of creating engaging content such as newsletters, posts, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with program teams and volunteers to highlight courses, events, publications, research, and DEI initiatives.
- Ensure all messaging is professional, consistent, and aligned with the Foundation’s mission and values.
Brand Management & Communications
- Strengthen and maintain the IAABC Foundation brand identity across digital and community platforms.
- Support messaging for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and recognition initiatives.
- Support the development of creative campaign materials that resonate with donors, volunteers, and animal behavior professionals.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with leadership, program teams, and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and execute campaigns.
- Maintain consistent communication via Slack and other collaboration platforms.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and creative environment among remote volunteers.
Innovation & Growth
- Stay informed about trends in nonprofit marketing, social media, and digital communications.
- Suggest innovative approaches to improve engagement, outreach, and program visibility.
- Help identify new channels and opportunities for growth in awareness and participation.
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Education or experience in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related fields.
- Experience developing marketing strategies, campaigns, and digital content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a volunteer-driven remote environment.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and Google Workspace is an asset.
- Passion for nonprofit work, animal training, or behavior education is highly valued.
- Availability of 5–10 hours per week.
