The Carboncopies Foundation is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the science and technology of whole brain emulation-the process of transferring the structure and functions of a brain from its original biological substrate to an engineered computational one. Founded by neuroscientists and technologists, we serve as a nexus for research collaboration, education, and public discourse on the path toward preserving and extending human cognition.

Our initiatives span disciplines including neuroscience, computer science, neuroengineering, artificial intelligence, and philosophy. Through workshops, webinars, publications, and community coordination, we bring together researchers, students, and visionaries who share our mission. We believe that whole brain emulation is not only a grand scientific challenge, but a transformative opportunity for the future of human experience and identity.

With over 15 years of history in the field, our team continues to foster innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our projects are powered by a dedicated community of volunteers-over 100 have contributed to date, with more than 30 actively engaged today.

This is a REMOTE Volunteer position*

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional with strong grant writing expertise to lead and expand our nonprofit’s development efforts. This position is responsible for managing donor relations, identifying funding opportunities, writing successful grant proposals, and developing fundraising strategies that support organizational growth and mission impact.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, exceptional writer and relationship builder with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and grants management.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Develop and execute fundraising strategies and campaigns
Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
Grant Writing: Research funding sources and craft compelling grant proposals.
Research prospective donors
Identify and contact potential donors
Use online platforms to raise donations
Maintain records of donor information
Train volunteers in fundraising procedures and practices

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, English, business, public administration, or related field
1-2 + years of nonprofit fundraising and grant writing experience
Demonstrated success securing grants and managing donor relationships
Experience in grant writing and proposal preparation
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Strong organizational and project management abilities
Experience managing multiple deadlines and funding applications simultaneously
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
Knowledge of fundraising best practices and legal regulations
