Food Rescue Volunteer Driver

BAY AREA – We Need Food Rescue Volunteers in 2026!

We are looking for several Food Rescue hero volunteers throughout all of Santa Clara county. You will be rescuing donated food and delivering it to community partners in your area. We have high need for the entire county.

Simply download the Eat Happy Now app and you can start volunteering right away.

Choose to volunteer as much or as little as you’d like- accept jobs when you want!

• Review training documents & video received after sign up
• Accept your 1st job in the area
• Volunteers need to have a vehicle to transport the food rescued
• Plan for minimum 1 Hour each job: jobs average 60mins, however jobs can range from 30mins. - 90mins.depending on the location of the volunteer

Position Overview

Are you looking to make a big difference in your spare time? As a Volunteer Food Rescue Driver, you will be the vital link between local food donors and communities facing food insecurity. Using our intuitive mobile app, you can claim local food runs, pick up surplus food from donors, and deliver it directly to nearby food banks, shelters, pantries, and crisis communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Download & Setup: Download the Eat Happy Now mobile app and create your volunteer profile.
• Accept Rescue Jobs: Receive real-time notifications of food rescue opportunities near you and claim the ones that fit your schedule.
• Pick Up & Transport: Drive to designated food donors (grocery stores, restaurants, grocers, and farms) to collect healthy, surplus food.
• Deliver with Care: Securely transport and drop off the food at designated recipient locations, including local food banks, pantries, and shelters.

Qualifications

• Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license (or a reliable method of transporting food safely). Students who do not drive, can be driven by a parent or a responsible older sibling to earn volunteer hours.
• Ownership of a smartphone capable of running the Eat Happy Now app.
• A compassionate, reliable attitude and a passion for environmental sustainability and community service.
