    Descrição

    Volunteer Role: Curriculum Coordinator

    Organization: Leveling the Fields

Commitment: 5 to 10 hours/month (flexible; more during curriculum build phases)

Location: Remote (with optional collaboration with local program staff)

    About Leveling the Fields

Leveling the Fields uses sports as a vehicle to build confidence, leadership, and lifelong healthy habits in elementary-aged girls. Our programs are designed to meet girls where they are, many with little to no prior sports experience, and grow with them year after year.

As our programs expand, we are seeking a Curriculum Coordinator to create, evolve, and scale our sport-specific curricula across multiple years of participation.

    Role Overview

The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for managing, creating, and maintaining Leveling the Fields’ sport curricula. This role ensures that each sport has a clear Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 progression, allowing girls who participate across multiple years to continuously build skills, confidence, and understanding of the sport.

This is a high-impact role that directly shapes the athlete experience and supports coaches—many of whom are not former athletes—by providing clear, age-appropriate, easy-to-use curriculum resources.

    Key Responsibilities

    Curriculum Management & Oversight

    • Own and maintain all sport curricula across the organization
    • Organize and version curricula so updates are clear and accessible
    • Ensure consistency in structure, tone, and instructional clarity across all sports

    Curriculum Development

    • Create Phase 2 and Phase 3 curricula for existing sports, building on current Phase 1 foundations
    • Support development of curricula for new sports as they are introduced (currently expanding from 6 to 8 sports)
    • Ensure each phase reflects:
      • Skill progression
      • Age-appropriate instruction
      • Increased complexity and confidence over time

    Growth & Progression Design

    • Design curricula assuming girls may participate for up to three consecutive years
    • Ensure each phase feels distinct, rewarding, and developmental
    • Collaborate with program leadership to align curriculum progression with overall program goals

    Coach-Friendly Design

    • Ensure curricula are:
      • Simple and intuitive for first-time or non-expert coaches
      • Low-resource and adaptable to different school environments
      • Clearly written with drills, objectives, and outcomes

    Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

    • Collaborate with Program Managers, coaches, and leadership to gather feedback
    • Make iterative improvements based on real-world implementation
    • Help identify gaps or opportunities for enhancement across sports

    Sports Scope

    • Current sports: 6 existing sports (some with Phase 1 already developed)
    • Near-term expansion: 2 additional sports
    • Responsibility includes both refining existing content and building future phases

    Ideal Skills & Experience

    • Experience in curriculum design, coaching, education, or youth sports (formal or informal)
    • Strong organizational and documentation skills
    • Ability to think developmentally about skill progression over time
    • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a growing team
    • Passion for youth development, equity in sports, and empowering girls

Former athletes, coaches, educators, or sport-adjacent professionals strongly encouraged, but not required.

    What Success Looks Like

    • Each sport has a clear Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 curriculum
    • Coaches feel confident delivering programs regardless of experience level
    • Returning athletes experience visible growth year over year
    • Curricula are organized, easy to update, and scalable as programs expand
