VolEx - In-Person Engagement Teams

Respect MO Voters is seeking members for the Volunteer Experience (VolEx) team to engage In Person with other coalition members before and after large events, host small local gatherings to boost morale and connectivity, and help spread the word about our campaign. These team members will be under Retention Group within the VolEx department.

We can call and email all day long, but in the end, it’s person-to-person interactions that have the most meaningful impact. We need teams of volunteers to connect with local groups of people to help spread the word of our campaign, and help everyone feel connected and appreciated.

What This Role Does

• Lead the In-Person Engagement teams in a given regional area
• Help keep volunteers motivated and together by coordinating local get-togethers before, and after, large events
• Recruit new volunteers to the campaign

Skills Needed

• Good time and organizational management.
• Friendly, approachable personality, that can get along with anyone
• Able to multitask
• Ability to delegate as needed
• Keen understanding of what is, and is not, a good gathering idea. Coordinate this with Department Lead.
• Okay with socializing in small-to-moderately-sized groups regularly

Responsibilities

• Answer to the local Regional Lead
• Organise and coordinate social events in your region.
  • Advertise on Slack, and/or Social Media, as appropriate.
• Communicate regularly with Dept. Chair, leadership, and In-Person Engagement teams.
• Coordinate gatherings before and after large events and Days of Action
• Work with Department, and local businesses to secure snacks and refreshments for these gatherings
• Communicate with local volunteers semi-regularly to establish and maintain good social networking
• Travel as needed
  • Some reimbursement options may be available
• Making sure the values of the Excellence Pledge are being upheld, by yourself as an ambassador, and everyone around you at these events. If there are problems, you’re our eye-on-the-ground.
• Reporting complaints, requests, or helpful ideas to the Feedback Analyst
  • Historically, this is a more effective way to check the group’s vibe than monthly surveys.
  • Provide accurate information to potential new volunteers, and direct them towards our onboarding process
