Bilingual Volunteers Needed for Hospice Companionship In the Thonotosassa Area!

The Hillsborough area is a melting pot of different cultures and demographics, this means that our hospice patients reflect that diversity! A good amount of our patients do not speak English - on top of that, as someone grows older even if they speak English as a second language they may begin to revert to their native tongue. This can often times lead to complications and further alienation as things progress - and that is where our bilingual volunteers come in!

Being able to connect to someone with their native tongue makes a world of difference, and can bring the quietest patient out of their shell! While Español is the top language barrier we encounter in this field, we continually bring on patients of every color of life. If you speak multiple languages and wish to spread compassion and joy, you can find a home with AccentCare!

As a volunteer with our organization you can expect to spend heartwarming moments and develop fond relationships with our patients as they go through their end of life journey.

There are many different opportunities available through AccentCare - all of them working towards the same goal of making sure each of our patients receive the best service possible.

Direct patient facing volunteers can expect:

• Providing companionship on a weekly (or biweekly) basis.
• Developing friendships with the elderly community.
• Taking part in activities such as board games, walking, listening to music, reading aloud, etc.
• Ensuring the wellbeing of the patient.
• Lend your ear to listen to life stories

Patient facing volunteers do not provide medical care in any capacity. Volunteers do not lift, bathe, groom, feed, medicate or anything of that nature.
