About Our Community Food Pantry

In an effort to increase access to healthy and nutritious food, El Buen Samaritano operates a drive-through food pantry on our campus, located in the heart of South Austin at: 7000 Woodhue Dr., Austin, TX 78745.

Community Food Pantry Volunteer Shifts:

Volunteer shifts are held on-site Monday - Thursday from 8:00am-10:00am.

Mondays and Wednesdays are preparation days and volunteers spend time packing up food for distribution day. Tuesdays and Thursdays are distribution days and volunteers spend the shift distributing food to clients through our drive-through pantry.

Volunteer Commitment:

We ask that food pantry team members commit to serving one day per week for the entirety (or remainder) of the season.

Unable to commit to a weekly shift? Join us as an Alternate Volunteer! Alternates are contacted when additional coverage is needed and may serve as their availability allows.

Volunteer Requirements:

El Buen Samaritano requires all regularly scheduled volunteers to meet the following criteria:

• Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older (we can have 16 to 17 years old of age helping inside the pantry)
• Volunteers must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes during the days they volunteer.
