We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Homework Helper Volunteers at Delray Beach Public Library. As a Homework Helper, you will assist children ages 6-12 with their homework assignments, fostering a positive learning environment within the library. The position is needed throughout the school year from October - May.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one assistance to children with their homework assignments in various subjects.
- Support children in understanding and completing their tasks, encouraging independent learning.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for children to feel comfortable seeking help.
- Assist with basic computer skills related to homework and research.
- Communicate effectively with parents, library staff, and other volunteers to ensure a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21.
- Strong academic background and proficiency in subjects commonly taught in elementary and middle schools.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping children succeed in their academic endeavors.
- Reliable commitment for shifts on Mondays through Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
- A Background Check is required.
