    Who We Are

At Creshendo, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to belong, rebuild, and rise. We co-create solutions with displaced communities—always listening, collaborating, and centering lived experiences. Fueled by integrity, empathy, and curiosity, we're building innovative and inclusive programs that reimagine what's possible for displaced people everywhere. If you're excited to challenge the status quo and help transform lives, you'll feel at home here.

    Why This Role Matters

Your contributions aren't just tasks—they're stepping stones in someone's journey to self-sufficiency, dignity, and belonging. Every role at Creshendo plays a part in creating inclusive communities where displaced people can rebuild and thrive. As our Advocacy Researcher, you'll help us advance Creshendo's Research Agenda by generating evidence-based insights into migration and refugee experiences globally. Your work will support long-form publications and advocacy that influence refugee protection, integration strategies, and inclusive policies.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • You'll conduct literature reviews and gather data, ensuring our research reflects the latest evidence on migration and refugee issues.
    • You'll support data collection and analysis using qualitative and/or quantitative methods, transforming raw information into actionable insights that drive policy and practice.
    • You'll create compelling data visualizations that make complex research findings accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
    • You'll draft and publish original advocacy reports for the Creshendo Substack platform (https://mycreshendo1.substack.com/), translating research into impactful storytelling.
    • You'll support survey development, interviews, and research design, helping amplify migrant and refugee voices and lived experiences.
    • You'll collaborate with internal teams, refugee representatives, and academic partners, enabling stronger research partnerships and impact.
    • You'll help structure long-form reports and papers, ensuring our findings are clear, rigorous, and accessible for publication and dissemination.
    • You'll track research activities and maintain documentation, supporting effective planning and timely publications.

    Time Commitment

This volunteer position requires a minimum commitment of five hours per week, including:

    • One hour weekly research and advocacy team meeting
    • One monthly all-staff meeting where you can interact with the rest of the organization
    • Flexible research and writing time to complete your projects

This role can satisfy academic internship requirements and may qualify for academic credit depending on your program's specific requirements.

    What You Bring

    • A mindset for creative problem-solving—you love experimenting with new approaches.
    • Openness to diverse perspectives—you know the best ideas come from collaboration.
    • A background or strong interest in examining the dynamic challenges faced by migrants and refugees globally.
    • Experience or academic grounding in research, social sciences, migration studies, public policy, international development, or related fields.
    • Fluency in English (required for research, analysis, and writing); proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
    • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Experience with literature reviews, data collection, and research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative).
    • (Preferred but not required) familiarity with academic research methods, data analysis tools, or statistical software.
    • Passion for refugee rights, inclusion, and evidence-based advocacy.
    • Regional expertise or issue-area specialization that aligns with our focus on refugees and migrants is welcomed and will be considered.

    What You'll Gain

Joining Creshendo as our Advocacy Researcher means you'll:

    • Contribute to meaningful research that informs migration and refugee policy and protection strategies globally.
    • Gain hands-on experience in nonprofit research, data collection, analysis, and academic writing.
    • Build networks with researchers, policymakers, and humanitarian professionals.
    • Work flexibly in a supportive, inclusive, international team that values bold ideas and diverse voices.
    • Have the opportunity to focus on regions or issues that align with your interests and expertise.

Even if you don't tick every box, if you're passionate about impact, innovation, and inclusivity—we'd love to meet you.
