Summary of Position
Enhance visitors’ experience by providing stewardship education, first aid and information in JCPOS Parks. Patrollers use common modes of non-motorized travel such as hiking, mountain biking, trail running, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, etc. Dogs are not allowed on patrol unless specially trained in the Bark Patroller Program.
Duties
Work independently while providing a visible presence at JCPOS parks
Willingness to talk to park visitors and address concerns in a friendly manner
Record and report visitor comments and safety issues to JCPOS staff
Report volunteer service hours regularly through online reporting system, Offero
Assist JCPOS Park Rangers at education events
Requirements
Commit to, and complete, 40 hours of volunteer service per year
Keen interest in the stewardship of JCPOS Parks demonstrated through communicating with and educating park visitors
Friendly personality that enjoys working with diverse park visitors
Possess good decision-making and communication skills
Purchase a uniform and wear it while on duty
Complete required training and mentoring before working independently
Volunteers must abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook
