Make a Lasting Difference in a Child's Life

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County is seeking caring, dependable adults to serve as volunteer mentors ("Bigs") for children in our community ("Littles"). By simply spending time together, sharing experiences, and providing encouragement, you can help a young person build confidence, develop life skills, and realize their full potential.

Research shows that mentoring relationships can have a positive impact on a child's academic performance, self-esteem, and overall well-being. As a Big Brother or Big Sister, you have the opportunity to be a consistent, supportive presence in a child's life while creating meaningful memories and connections.

What You'll Do

• Meet with your Little regularly and participate in activities you both enjoy
• Provide friendship, guidance, and positive encouragement
• Help your Little explore interests, set goals, and build confidence
• Serve as a trusted role model and supportive adult
• Communicate with Big Brothers Big Sisters staff to ensure a successful match

Volunteer Commitment

• Minimum age: 18 years old
• Commit to meeting with your Little approximately 3-6 hours per month
• Commit to the mentoring relationship for at least one year
• Complete an application, interview, background check, and training process

No special skills or previous mentoring experience are required—just a willingness to show up and be there for a child.
