Waste to Wonder: Upcycling Paper for HCPSS Art Classrooms
Detalhes
Descrição
Bridges is excited to launch a new way for volunteers to engage with us! Our new volunteer program, Waste to Wonder, will transform the paper waste caused by shredding documents into new paper that will be donated to participating HCPSS art classrooms! Paper-making will be every first Saturday of the month.
This program is a wonderful full circle moment of the upcycled paper from supporting HCPSS families going into HCPSS art classrooms. That way we are reducing the environmental impact of our programs, reducing the costs of supplies for some HCPSS art projects, and preventing unneeded landfill waste (shredded paper cannot be processed by most recycling facilities).
Volunteers will be processing the shredded paper: blending it with water, putting it in a paper mold, using a sponge to remove the excess water, moving the wet fibers to a cloth to dry, hanging up the drying new sheets of paper. To sign up as a volunteer wonder maker, use this listing or email alexie@bridges2hs.org.
To sign up as a monthly Volunteer Wonder Delivery Driver, delivering paper donations to participating Howard County Public Schools each month, go here https://ideali.st/aa2UUw or email alexie@bridges2hs.org.
