Surgery Waiting Desk Volunteer

Role Overview: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Surgery Waiting Desk Volunteers. This role is crucial in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families during the early morning hours. The early shift is VERY busy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain and review the daily surgery schedule.
• Welcome patients arriving for surgery and assist with check-in procedures.
• Provide information about general hospital services related to surgery procedures and reassure patients that hospital staff will provide complete information as it becomes available. Volunteers should never give medical information or refer to personal medical history.
• Answer incoming telephone inquiries.
• Direct visitors to appropriate areas of the hospital and escort them if the schedule allows.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
• Dependable and punctual, especially for early morning shifts.
• Comfortable working in a hospital environment.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
