Calvary Women’s Services offers housing, health, employment and education programs that empower homeless women in Washington, DC to change their lives. Founded in 1983, our programs carry out our mission to offer "a safe, caring place for tonight; support, hope and change for tomorrow." Meal volunteers provide all of the meals on the weekend allowing more of Calvary's resources to go directly to the women in the program.
Meal volunteers purchase or prepare a nutritious meal at home and bring it to one of Calvary's housing program sites. Dinners are needed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Volunteers are asked to prepare or purchase a meal for 15-25 residents. There is an option to stay and serve the meal, which is a great opportunity to meet the Calvary residents! After serving the meal, volunteers are welcome to sit down and enjoy the meal with the residents.
This is the perfect opportunity for families and small groups of up to 10 to serve!
We are looking for meal donations at three of our transitional housing program sites, located across DC. Two sites are in Ward 8 and one is in Ward 6.
Since two sites serve survivors of domestic violence, their addresses remain unlisted until confidentiality forms are completed. Please reach out to Calvary with any questions about locations!
Please submit a volunteer application and select "Dinner Provider" to indicate your interest in this role. Calvary Women's Services' Community Engagement Manager will reach out to schedule an introductory call and discuss next steps.
Please reach out with any questions during your application process!
