About the Opportunity

Faeryland’s Farm Menagerie is seeking a dependable, friendly volunteer to help us expand our Goat-Assisted Wellness & Education (GAWE) program by making outreach phone calls and helping schedule appointments with potential community partners.

GAWE is a non-clinical, animal-assisted wellness and education program that uses specially trained goats to support connection, belonging, stress reduction, education, and positive human-animal interaction.

We are already reaching out to schools, colleges and universities, libraries, assisted-living communities, veterans’ organizations, businesses, and other community partners. We need someone who can help us follow up with these organizations by phone, introduce GAWE, identify the appropriate contact person, and help schedule meetings or presentations.

You do not have to cold-call without support. We will provide contact lists, information about GAWE, talking points, phone scripts, and guidance.

What You’ll Do

• Make outreach and follow-up phone calls to potential GAWE community partners
• Follow up with organizations that have already received introductory emails
• Briefly explain GAWE and the services offered by Faeryland’s Farm
• Identify the appropriate decision-maker or program coordinator
• Help schedule phone, Zoom, or in-person appointments
• Record call outcomes and follow-up information
• Maintain simple notes about contacts and next steps
• Represent Faeryland’s Farm and GAWE in a friendly, professional manner
• Help us build relationships that bring animal-assisted wellness and education into more communities

Who Would Be Great for This Role?

• Retirees who enjoy talking with people and want to use their professional experience to support a nonprofit
• Military veterans looking for a meaningful way to remain involved in their community
• Former administrative assistants, educators, sales professionals, customer-service professionals, nonprofit staff, or community organizers
• Anyone who is personable, dependable, organized, and comfortable speaking with people by phone

No fundraising or sales experience is required.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal volunteer:

• Is comfortable making outgoing phone calls
• Speaks clearly and professionally
• Is friendly and able to build rapport
• Is dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule
• Can keep basic notes and follow-up information organized
• Is comfortable using email and basic computer programs
• Can work independently after training
• Believes in respectful treatment of animals and people
• Is willing to learn about GAWE and represent the program accurately

Most importantly, we need someone who is not afraid to pick up the phone and start a conversation.

Schedule

We are looking for someone available two weekdays each week between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

A consistent two-day schedule is preferred so that the volunteer can develop relationships with contacts and manage follow-up calls effectively.

And, of course, there may be occasional goat coworkers.

Faeryland’s Farm Menagerie is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary in Middle Tennessee dedicated to creating a safe space for healing for humans, animals, and nature.

Our Goat-Assisted Wellness & Education (GAWE) program brings trained goats into educational, wellness, and community settings while maintaining a sanctuary-first approach to animal welfare and consent.
