Red Cross Disaster Action Team Member

Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery.

The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Member supports capacity building activities necessary to ensure effective service delivery during a DAT response.

This position is responsible for supporting DAT program readiness within a region

1. Attends regular team meetings and training as required by the region/territory.
2. Completes assigned projects and tasks according to the needs of the DAT program, such as:
   1. Preparing vehicles
   2. Preparing response materials
   3. Scheduling / supporting regular team meetings and training
   4. Supporting the onboarding, training and leadership development of DAT volunteers
   5. Providing general administrative support for the DAT program

The time commitment varies depending on regional projects and priorities.

Required qualifications:

• Able to follow and execute requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision.
• Able to adapt to change, negotiate compromise, and tolerate ambiguity.
• Able to build effective relationships with groups and individuals who can help with related DAT program goals
• Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
