Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are mature, reliable adults (21+) who have a passion for children and can be objective under difficult circumstances and can relate to people from all backgrounds and lifestyles. Serving children in Graves, Carlisle, Hickman & Fulton Counties.
No experience needed, training is provided. CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to advocate for abused, neglected and dependent children. A CASA volunteer visits the child and speaks to everyone involved, including parents, foster parents, case workers, teachers, and service providers. After reviewing all records and information, the CASA volunteer considers the facts of the case, report findings, and makes recommendations to the judge about what is in the child's best interest. Volunteers stay on the case until the child is placed in a safe permanent home.
As an impartial advocate for children, the duties of a CASA volunteer are.
- Gather information about the child.
- Reports and makes recommendations to the judge.
- Gets to know the child and advocate for the child's best interest.
- Monitors until the child has a safe, permanent home.
