We are seeking a friendly, patient volunteer to provide social companionship to a participant living in an Adult Family Home (AFH). Since transitioning to the AFH, this participant has experienced reduced socialization. Their family remains involved, but an additional warm presence would make a meaningful difference in their daily life.
The participant lives with cognitive impairment and thrives when engaged in tactile, creative, and nature‑inspired activities. Some of their favorite pastimes include:
Drawing and crafting
Wire bending and weaving
Exploring plants and botany
Watching or chatting about football
Listening to music
Casual conversation and companionship
They enjoy gentle, relaxed interactions and respond best to volunteers who bring curiosity, creativity, and kindness.
Volunteer Role
We are looking for someone who can:
Visit regularly to offer companionship (3x a month)
Engage in shared hobbies or introduce simple creative activities
Encourage social interaction through conversation, music, or hands-on projects
Provide a calm, supportive presence
Time Commitment
Flexible visits can be arranged according to the volunteer’s schedule.
Ideal Volunteer
This opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys arts and crafts, nature, music, or simply connecting with others. No special skills required—just a warm heart and willingness to spend time with an older adult.
