Monterey State Historic Park has a variety of special event short-term volunteer opportunities. These include but are not limited to:
4th of July Living History Day: This is an opportunity for our guests to step back in time and participate in Early California activities such as rope making, leather stamping, tortilla cooking, map making, embroidery, candle making, and playing 19th century games. Volunteers are needed to both help facilitate these activities while dressed in our 19th century attire as well as to count attendance at entrances.
Christmas in the Adobes: Christmas in the Adobes is one of Monterey’s signature holiday events. Beautifully decorated adobes paired with live music, refreshments, and historical education makes for a full night of festivities! We need volunteers to help host our historic buildings as well as volunteers to help guests find their way around town as a Wayfinder. Hosting a building also includes the opportunity to wear 19th century period accurate clothing.
First Theater Festival: First Theater Festival is an annual event at Monterey State Historic Park celebrating one of our most treasured building’s reopening. This event includes entertainment, family-friendly activities, a maker’s market, and even food trucks. To help us invite guests into the building and facilitate activities, sign up to be a volunteer!
If any or all of these short-term volunteer opportunities interest you, please reach out to mshp.volcoor@parks.ca.gov or fill out the "How to Apply" section.
